If you’ve been keeping track here, you’ll know that on July 16th I had end-to-end urethroplasty to repair a urethral stricture. See my post – My Urethroplasty Is Done – for more details. Well, today is the 7-week point since then. So how is it going?
Well, things are not noticeably different from what they were last week or even two weeks ago (5-Week Post Urethroplasty Status). The pain in the testicle/scrotum area continues to be the same. I actually was getting a bit worried on Sunday because the pain seemed to have gotten worse. I had to do two things to reassure myself. First, I remembered that on Saturday, I did a fair amount of exercise that had me twisting and lifting. Also, I went back to a thread on the MedHelp forum here: https://www.medhelp.org/posts/Urology/Recently-had-a-Urethroplasty-done/show/1680722. Reading through those posts, I was reminded that some guys had the pain in the testicle/scrotum for as long as 8 months!
In addition to all that, I consulted once again with the urology clinic. Without explicitly saying that this is expected or totally normal, they did say that I should not worry unless I get extreme swelling, drainage/seeping of fluid, or fever. And since I had none of those, and the pain level was what I would call a 4 (on that 1-t0-10 scale), meaning it was bothersome and uncomfortable, but not intolerable, and certainly not enough to require pain meds, they said not to worry.
I’m actually going in to Urology tomorrow for my first flow-rate analysis and post-voiding residual check (PVR) to check how well the surgery repair is working. I am planning to ask someone to do a physical check of the area, rather than these over-the-phone things. I’ll feel even more relieved if after someone sees what’s going on, they still say there is nothing to worry about. I’ll let you know how that goes tomorrow afternoon.
Meanwhile, my inflatable donut-shaped pillow and my recliner continue to be my best hope for pain-free living. Luckily I can get a lot of work done here with my netbook.
Watch for my update tomorrow afternoon! [which is this post: Results Of Uroflowmetry Test]
