Tips To Help Make Life With A Catheter A Little Easier
Living With A Urinary Catheter › Forums › Urethral Strictures And Their Treatments › Update 10 days post op
Hello everybody,
Too much of my surprise I have been doing very well. Minimal and manageable pain. This was until last night when I had this stinging, burning feeling with the catheter. I sat down to attempt to have a bowel movement when all this started. I guess more than anything it freaked me out like here we go again more problems. I took my nighttime medicine to help with erections and called it an early night. I woke up this morning and the feeling is still there just not as intense. Very frustrating that is still 13 days with catheter in. Hard being a 21 year old kid, and living with this. Just trying to stay positive at this point.
It could be bladder spasms causing the discomfort. Have they given you any medication for those, like oxybutynin?
Another possibility is a UTI, which is really common with a catheter. Or it could be nothing but irritation from the catheter, but I would contact your doctor and them about it.
Glad to hear that the recovery is going well otherwise.

After and during bowel movements, I would often get bladder spasms. Sometimes when trying to go to sleep, too. Medications helped with all that, though. It’s always good to consult your concerns with a doctor. I cannot express enough how much my doctors helped me with questions about what was happening :>
