Tips To Help Make Life With A Catheter A Little Easier
Living With A Urinary Catheter › Forums › Urethral Strictures And Their Treatments › Radiation Induced Membranous Stricture – Has anybody had the same issue?
Hi, I had HDRBT and IMRT treatments for my prostate cancer. Had a complete blockage in March of 2019 and had an emergency DVIU. Now the stricture is back.
Wonder if anybody had a similar situation and went through urethroplasty?
I am concerned about the damaged tissue and worry about the healing process as well as recurrence.
Please share your experience.
Thx,
Akai
In April 2018 I had a urethroplasty in my membranous area due to radiation for prostate cancer. I had the radiation 12 years ago and the blockage occurred 6 years ago. I had 3 or 4 DVIU procedures followed by 2 years of self catheterization. Urethroplasty is the only way to go. I live in Florida and used a Doctor in Gurnee IL. His name is Dr. Alsikafi. I have a narrow flow but it has remainded consistant for over two years. I was told by Naples, Florida doctors that the Urethroplasty would be impossible. NOT TRUE.

akai,
Saw you post about supra pubic catheter. Dr. Alsikafi did put in a supra pubic catheter prior to the surgery. It was much better than self catheterization or catheter. Just pull a plug and go. It was placed there to assist healing (two to three months). Must be changed about ever 6 weeks (two minutes to change by nurse).
