Hello everyone,
I’m desperately seeking help looking for a Urologist who specialists in treating Urethral Stricture disease and performs Urethroplasty in Ontario, Canada.
Finding this information is proving to be tremendously difficult.
Im in the most down mental state that I’ve ever been in, I hope that someone can help.

I don’t how your search has gone, but FWIW I met with Dr. Lee C Zhao (part of TURNS organization) in NYC yesterday, and had a great initial experience. He works at NYCU Langone. I flew in from Western NY, and had a consultation with him & his staff.
He advised he does apprx 120 surgeries regarding urethral strictures per year, and made me feel at ease as I could tell this was a regular day in the office for him. He also noted that he has many clients from overseas & people who travel to see him (including myself).
I did a cystoscopy on site as well as a flow test, which were a breeze compared to my first set of tests at a local hospital. The plan is to eventually conduct surgery, and they will have to use some skin from the inside cheek as well. Him and his staff were very friendly and informative, I actually showed up to my apt 2 hrs early and they took me right away. The total visit was about 2 hours or so. I highly recommend looking into if your insurance would accept him and if it would be feasible. For me, paying $200 USD for a round-trip plane ticket a few times is worth it, if I can fix this mess….

From what I know there’s only two urethral reconstruction specialists in all of Canada. One in Edmonton and one in Montreal. I was very fortunate to be operated by Dr. Daniel Liberman at the CHUM hospital in Montreal . He is a world class surgeon. You can’t go wrong with this doctor. I am very very happy with my surgery. Couldn’t ask for anything better.

Karl is correct Edmonton and Montreal are main training centres. However, Toronto and Ottawa have some specialists now. I had mine done at the urology clinic at the civic in Ottawa and I was told about a doctor in Toronto as well. The Toronto fellow is really backed up with patients. Basically, this is a relatively new surgery so few in Canada are trained. I almost moved West for this reason, but am happy to have had it completed in Ottawa.
