Tips To Help Make Life With A Catheter A Little Easier
Living With A Urinary Catheter › Forums › Urethral Strictures And Their Treatments › Masturbation After Urethroplasty
Hello!
Just for some general background, I recently had a end to end urethroplasty done 15 days ago. I just had my Foley catheter taken out yesterday and everything is great thus far. I only have a slight pain in my scrotum with very minimal swelling now and the doc said that the stitches are healing fine. My flow is a million times better and I haven’t had any issues with blood in the urine since they first took it out.
As for the topic of this post, I was curious as to when others’ urologists have “okayed” them for masturbating. It’s a question I forgot to ask my doctor before leaving. He did, however, recommend to play it safe and keep from having intercourse for another 4 weeks. All answers will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
Four to six weeks seems to be the standard time period, since it takes that long for the internal stitching to heal and strengthen.
Since you’re only out two weeks, you could still have some scrotal pain come on in a week or two. When the nerves begin to wake up its extremely common for a dull ache to develop, along with occasional pains that are more intense. Don’t be alarmed if it happens. That keeps some guys from masturbating or having sex, from either fear of hurting something or because it simply doesn’t feel comfortable.
My advice… Wait at least four weeks, then decide for yourself if you feel ready.

As a rule, 6-8 weeks from the date of surgery. I got to about 6 weeks and was frustrated. All was fine. Do it when you feel ready and obviously be gentle
