Tips To Help Make Life With A Catheter A Little Easier
Living With A Urinary Catheter › Forums › General Discussion › Hello, new to the forum but not to strictures
Wow, great forum, wonderful plethora of information.
My name is Craig, hailing from Canada. I’m 36 years old. My story is very similar to many others, went years with misdiagnoses, constant UTI’s, haven’t been able to stand and pee for 8 years, constant pain, constant worry, constant mental health strain, multiple stretches, urethrotomy, catheters, trips to emergency rooms, excruciatingly pass out painful catheter insertions ad nauseum. Whew, when I type it out like that I almost want to cry.
My stricture starts at the meatus opening, continues inside for about 6 cm’s. I had another cystoscopy last week on Thursday. This time, after seeing multiple urologists, I finally found a specialist who knew what it was right away and is a reconstructive urologist. So I guess I have hope to see a possible end to this after being told by past urologists that this was how I was going to be living for life. I would have to say the most difficult part of living with this disease is the negative effects on my mental health and self esteem, it really drains me. It’s been very difficult the last 12 years.
I am hoping to have a urethroplasty scheduled soon. I have bookmarked this forum and will provide updates.
Hi Craig, I also have a blog I have been writing for my recent urethroplasty. Please do not hesitate to ask any questions. This site is rather dormant nowadays. A good thing as it obviously means a lot of people who underwent the procedure are now cured so it no longer affects their life!
I was trying to respond to this earlier, but it kept telling me I need to log in first. You’re not alone, my friend. Let us know what’s going on and I will try and do the same. So far the only thing I know is that I have a scope coming soon and a probable urethroplasty in the near future. I think my urologist is going to maybe prioritize my case because I don’t have a spleen and am particularly prone to infection. I will check back for a response in the near future.
Hi Craig
I was just wondering if you had your urethralplasty yet and how it went
