Merrimack, how are you doing now?
I’m actually at the 4-week mark post-surgery and have yet to gain an erection. I have a lot of numbness on the front of my scrotum extending to the base of my penis. Maybe a little numbness in the frenulum but none in the glans as far as I can tell so far.
I had a traumatic fall almost four months ago that crushed my urethra, but still was able to get erections maybe 1-2 weeks after the fall. I lost fullness in my glans during erections; the surgeon explained the blood vessel feeding the glans runs through the perineal area and was probably crushed as well. But otherwise my shaft filled like normal (I guess those blood vessels run through a different area).
The surgeon actually told me I was getting erections during the surgery, too. I laugh thinking about the entire surgical staff being around while I’m at full attention.
Anyway, now I’m having issues with it. During the first few weeks, multiple times a day with no mental/physical stimulation I could feel what I can only describe as blood trying to flow into my penis, but nothing would happen. That’s subsided as I’ve healed, but still happens now and again. Since I’ve had the urinary catheter out, I’ve had a few “chubbies” but that’s about all. Each day I give it a shot, and it seems like I can get a little more full each time I try. I’ve gone from literally nothing happening to getting about 25% there at best. I can feel blood flowing at least in the area but it just doesn’t happen. I’ve woken up a time or two now with something more than nothing, as well.
I’m going to keep giving it time and may have to look into ED medication once I hit the 6-week mark.
Just curious to hear more about the experiences of others.
