Merrimack,
Are you sure it was a whole inch that was removed? How old are you? That seems very aggressive. I’m no doctor, but I just had my consultation with a reconstructive surgeon (Dr Lee C Zhao at NYU Langone) and he made it clear to me a buccal graft would be necessary due to the location and possible length of my stricture. He advised that if they did attempt an end-end procedure (cutting the damaged part, then reconnecting) I would run across other possible risks, and I’d imagine what you described above as a possibility.
I would discuss with your Dr, there’s also a strong possibility healing isn’t complete. 4 weeks post op isn’t a very long time for recovery, based on what I am reading on here. I’ve read somewhere that 6 weeks is the benchmark for sexual activity, but it’s taken others even longer (up to 5 months) so you might want to consider that as well. I’d give it another full month or two before really worrying. it’s a bit out of you control anyways, so just stay calm and hope for the best, try to get your mind off of it all with reading or music maybe.
