I had mine in August last year. Things are still working well. I had issues with infections and retention due to bladder enlargement. Overall I’d say there is 110% that I would do it again. It is so liberating to not worry about what I drink before I go to bed. I used to have to stop drinking water at around 7pm so that I would not have issues.
Also for those reading with a BMG, my mouth is good. I did lose the ability to whistle and it appears that it might not come back. I also have some thickening of the inside of my mouth that I have had to get used to. Overall worth it.
My case was a little different, After the Urethroplasty, I developed (or had undiscovered) an enlarged prostate that was also blocking urine flow. I had to have a laser reduction after the surgery. That procedure was much simpler and almost pain free. One night in the hospital and home. Took care of the issue and I could be free of the suprapubic. I also developed a MRSA infection from the suprapubic that has been particularly difficult to resolve. I think after several courses (almost non stop for 6 months) I am clear.
In short if you are on the verge of doing it, do it. You won’t regret it afterwards!
