Update: I had my surgery 07:00am tuesday 21 Feb 2017 by Dr. Allen Morey, UT Southwestern. 2 1/2 hour OP. Dr. recommended I stay overnight. I can now say, stay two nights after surgery. While it was good to be in my own bed the second night, I had much more stamina on day two post surgery. No issues with pressurization in the plane. Just difficult/painful sitting through the 2 1/2 hour flight.
I had an anastomotic repair. Just under 3cm in length. I was off Pain narcs 60 hours after surgery. Now taking 1 extra strength Tylenol before bedtime. Yes, the incision hurt, moderate swelling. Lingering scrotal pain. Some caused by the closure stitching running from near anus to about 1 inch into the scrotum area. No doubt that spot will take a long time to flatten out to smooth skin again. I mostly relax on a couch as sitting, even with a donut, is uncomfortable.
Dr. ordered 4 weeks until cath removal due to radiation damage during Prostate Cancer treatment in 2006. Boredom is worse than the pain. Walk 1/2 mile, shower, book, nap TV nap, Walk 1/2 mile. Rinse and repeat.
Do not stop taking Colace. Morning BM is a painful part of my day.
Highly recommend the procedure. Pain and discomfort much less than other treatments I’ve had. My broken arm hurt much worse.
Question: How long after catheter removal before having sex? If you’re shy, email me.
Thanks for all the post/information. It has helped a lot.
