CathWear aims to address all of those issues and more. Made from breathable material (think biking shorts) there is a Cath-Tract that encloses the corresponding tubing and keeps it in place to prevent inadvertent pulling, while moving around and or going to the bathroom. There are also the Cath-Pockets that ensure the bags from stay in place regardless of your activity throughout the day. The compressed yet comfortable feeling of the underwear gives the person wearing it a sense of confidence that hasn’t been available to patients using traditional solutions (the Velcro leg straps, sleeves, tape).
The product currently retails for $39.99 and is available at cathwear.com and on Amazon. We’ve seen many different products try to answer many of the headaches that are associated with leg bag management. Some of those have done a pretty good job at addressing one or two of the issues, but to find something such as CathWear that can help such a wide ranging group of catheter users is new. Patients that have had a Foley, Nephrostomy, Suprapubic, or Biliary procedure can all utilize this single solution. Here is a brief video that highlights the product.
